IMF mission to arrive in Kyiv today

IMF mission to arrive in Kyiv today

4 March 2014

The IMF mission will arrive in Kyiv on March 4, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde said on March 3.The mission is aimed at evaluating Ukraine’s economic situation and discussing plans for reform that could open a new cooperation program. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk reported the same day his government will meet all IMF requirements to restart cooperation, “just for the reason that we have no other choice”.

Alexander Paraschiy:  We have positive expectations from the upcoming visit. The Cabinet has already declared its readiness for painful reforms and we do not see much room for maneuvering here. Probably, the procedure of negotiating and signing the agreement will take some time. But we anticipate a positive signal to emerge promptly from the meeting, with the first wire arriving within a month.
