Industrial output down 19.8% yoy in October

According to the State Statistics Committee, industrial output plunged 19.8% yoy in the month of October. The key contributor to the drop was metallurgy, which declined 35.6% yoy. Other industries also fell: mining by 10% yoy, food production by 10.9% yoy, chemicals by 19.2% yoy, machinery by 11.2%. Over the first ten months of 2008, output climbed 2.2% yoy.
