Inflation jumps 11.0% y-o-y in May

The Ukrainian consumer price index rose 11.0% y-o-y in May, accelerating from 9.4% y-o-y in April and 7.7% y-o-y in March, the State Statistics Committee reported yesterday on its website. The main contributor was food prices, which rose +10.4% y-o-y in May, following +7.9% y-o-y in April and +5.7% y-o-y in March. Utilities price growth held at +23.6% y-o-y for the second month, up from 21.5% y-o-y in March. The May inflation rate of 11.0% y-o-y was in line with the median estimate of a Bloomberg survey of six economists, Bloomberg reported yesterday.
