27 July 2009

Motor Sich (MSICH) General Director Vyacheslav Boguslayev said on Saturday that Iran wants to launch serial production of the An-148 airplane, Interfax reported. Boguslayev said that during a recent meeting with Iranian leadership in Tehran, they expressed interest in receiving Motor Sich’s D-436-148 engines for at least 50 An-148s to be built in Iran. Boguslayev said Iran has made a total of 14 An-140 aircraft so far and is due to make two more by the end of the year. Boguslayev also said that China wants to purchase a license to make Motor Sich’s AI-222-25 engines for its Yak-130 Russian training aircraft; Motor Sich annually supplies up to 200 engines for the Chinese-operated planes. In addition, Boguslayev announced that Libya was due to receive three An-74 aircraft with Motor Sich’s D-36 engines by the end of the year and that Egypt had ordered six new An-74 aircraft.
