Kinakh Forecasts August Inflation at 0.5-0.9%

9 August 2008

Anatoliy Kinakh, Ukraine’s Economy Minister, said yesterday that he forecasted inflation in August at 0.5-0.9% and noted that the government plans to intervene to achieve its planned target. Polina Khomenko: Despite any government efforts to contain inflation (the primary concern areas are meat and milk prices, the main inflation drivers in July), we think that on the back of inflation hikes in June and July, it will not be possible to fix inflation at the planned level of 7.5% for the year. We  forecast moderate CPI growth over the next few months, reaching 10.5% by year end.
