Kryukiv Railcar to compete to build commuter train

Kryukiv Railcar to compete to build commuter train

31 July 2013

Kryukiv Railcar (KVBZ UK) will participate in a tender to supply five trains for Kyiv’s Air Express (a direct rail service between Kyiv and Boryspil International Airport), Kryukiv CEO Evgeny Khvorost said on July 30. The tender to select the supplier has not yet been scheduled but Kryukiv claims it is ready to deliver five units by the end of 2014. The list price of a Kryukiv train is estimated at USD 13.6 mln. Kyiv city authorities plan to launch the Air Express in 1Q15, while track construction is expected to begin in August. Roman Dmytrenko: The construction of the Air Express is being financed by a USD 372 mln loan from the Export-Import Bank of China with the China Machinery Engineering Corporation selected as the major contractor. In our view, that might undermine Kryukiv’s chances to win the tender.
