Law Enforcement Officials Announce Plans To Open Criminal Case Against Ukraine's Richest Man.

Deputy Interior Minister Hennady Moskal, announced that Donetsk tycoon Rinat Akhmetov is a suspect in an attempted murder case dating from 1988. After Akhmetov failed to appear for questioning last week, reports in the media alleged that he was wanted for questioning in connection with the case. Concorde Capital: During the presidential election, President Yushchenko repeatedly said he planned to crackdown on the criminal activities of Ukraine?s business leaders. However, more recently several members of the new government, including the PM, have suggested that there will be a ?grace period? to allow business elites to adjust to the new realties in Ukraine. Some speculate that these actions are only to serve as a warning to the tycoon.
