Merchandise Trade Imbalance Hits All-Time High in 2007

According to the State Statistics Committee, merchandise trade deficit reached all-time high of USD 11.42 bln or 7.9% of estimated GDP. Merchandise exports surged 28.4% yoy to USD 49.3 bln, while imports jumped 34.7% yoy to USD 60.7 bln in 2007. Ukraine’s total trade imbalance amounted to USD 7.31 bln (5.1% of estimated GDP) due to a trade surplus of USD 4.11 bln in services.
