Metinvest signs long-term agreement with MMK Illicha

30 June 2010

Metinvest, Ukraine’s largest metallurgical group, signed a 25-year agreement to supply steelmaker MMK Illicha (UX: MMKI UK) with iron ore concentrate, pellets and coke, daily Kommersant reported this morning. MMK Illicha Chairman Volodymyr Boyko said he believed the new deal would protect the plant for hostile takeover. Boyko said in mid-June he was exploring a merger with Metinvest.
