Money Supply up 52% in 2007

The money supply (M3) surged 52% to UAH 397.4 bln (USD 78.7 bln) in 2007 (up 8.8% mom in December), according to the National Bank of Ukraine. The monetary base rose 46% to UAH 141.9 bln (USD 28.1 bln) during the period (up 8.7% mom in December). The main drivers for the increase in the M3 were rising consumer lending (up 74% in 2007), and a surge in cash supply (up 48%).
