Naftogaz repays its USD 1.6 bln Eurobond

Naftogaz repays its USD 1.6 bln Eurobond

2 October 2014

Ukraine’s natural gas giant Naftogaz reported it made its last payments on its USD 1.6 bln Eurobond (NAFTO) on Oct. 1. The company confirmed the repayment of USD 1,595 mln of its principal amount and USD 76 mln of the last coupon payment, according to its Oct. 1 release.

Alexander Paraschiy: The repayment might add some confidence to the holders of Ukrainian government Eurobonds as it demonstrates that it’s capable of servicing its debt smoothly (with the IMF’s help, of course).

Additionally, we are glad to throw away this inefficient and non-transparent company from our coverage universe.
