National Bank conducts first currency auction

The National Bank of Ukraine held its first currency auction yesterday. At the auction the NBU allowed banks to purchase US dollars at yesterday’s official rate UAH/USD 5.8854±2%. First Deputy NBU Head Anatoliy Shapovalov said that of the total USD 1 bln foreign exchange turnover yesterday, the size of the NBU’s intervention was about USD 650 mln.
