NBU to pay 0.5%-1.0% interest on bank reserves

The National Bank has proposed offering a 0.5%-1.0% interest rate on commercial banks’ reserves required to be held in NBU special accounts beginning October 2. Since September 10, banks have been obliged to hold 50% of their total obligatory reserves at the NBU in special accounts that cannot be used for intraday transactions.
