A bill banning the privatization of a 76% stake in Luganskteplovoz was approved by parliament yesterday in its first reading. Later, the parliament refused to support a bill to put Turboatom and Odessa Portside on this list. The bills were prepared by the State Property Fund (SPF). In Sept 2001, the SPF announced there was no winner for the tender of 76% of Luganskteplovoz (LPTL). AvtoKrAZ (KRAZ: BUY) was the only participant, but the SPF refused to consider the company as a participant. President Yushchenko recently promised foreign investors that he would intensify the privatization process, and offer stakes in large industrial enterprises, including the Odessa Portside Plant and Turboatom (TATM: Sell).
