8 December 2008

OTP Bank, a major Hungarian bank, is eyeing the fourth-largest Ukrainian bank, Ukrsotsbank. According to OTP, the bank submitted a proposal for the purchase of a major stake in Ukrsotsbank. Concorde Capital: OTP also took a shot at Ukrsibbank but failed to win the tender ? French BNP Paribas is the new owner of the 51% stake.  The company?s current efforts to bid for another Ukrainian bank shows how serious is OTP about getting a foothold in Ukraine?s banking sector. Ukrsotsbank?s owners are expected to sell a major stake in the bank at the beginning of next year.
