Ovostar boosts shell egg production 11% y-o-y in 9M11

Ovostar Union (WSE: OVO PW, N/R) increased production of shell eggs 11% y-o-y to 443 mln units and sales 19% y-o-y to 323 mln units in 9M11, the company reported yesterday. Shell egg exports surged by 65% y-o-y to 71 mln units. Ovostar also processed 159 mln eggs (up 30% y-o-y) in 9M11 and sold 1,050 mt of dry and 2794 mt of liquid egg products. The average sale price of shell egg grew by 14% y-o-y to UAH 0.578, of dry egg products grew by 7% y-o-y to UAH 38.8/kg, and of liquid egg products by 15% y-o-y to UAH 12.4/kg (all net of VAT). As of September 30, 2011, the total number of laying hens reached 2.45 mln, a 25% y-o-y increase. The company also said it planned to commission a new poultry house (281 ths bird places) at the end of October 2011; the new site will increase the company’s production capacity by 11%.
