Poroshenko appoints Microsoft Ukraine CEO to Presidential Administration

10 July 2014

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced on July 9 that he has appointed Microsoft Ukraine CEO Dmytro Shymkiv as his Presidential Administration’s deputy head of administrative, economic and social reforms. Shymkiv confirmed his resignation from Microsoft on his Facebook page on July 9. Shymkiv was lauded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates for supporting the Euro-Maidan, reported the Presidential Administration’s press service.

Zenon Zawada: It’s positive to see Poroshenko select numerous talented and experienced leaders from Ukraine’s corporate sector to serve in the Presidential Administration. Recall, MHP Board Chairman Yuriy Kosyuk was appointed on July 3 as first deputy head of the Presidential Administration in charge of coordinating defense. The amount of proven corporate leaders in Poroshenko’s team is unprecedented for a Ukrainian president, which is cause for optimism.
