Poroshenko, Merkel discuss Donbas ahead of G20 summit

6 July 2017

Ukrainian President Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Merkel on July 5 to discuss the situation in occupied Donbas and coordinate their position ahead of the G20 summit on July 7-8, the presidential administration website said. They stressed the need to fulfill the main requirements of the Minsk Accords and expressed their dissatisfaction with Russian-backed fighters violating the ceasefire. They also expressed their concern for the lives of OSCE monitors being placed under threat and their movement being restricted.

Zenon Zawada: This report indicates nothing new with Donbas and no prospects for resolving the warfare anytime soon.
