Procecutors Let RusAl Off Easy.

Procecutors Let RusAl Off Easy.

5 July 2008

The Prosecutor General’s Office withdrew its lawsuit against the Russian Aluminum giant RusAl. Had the court found in favor of the Prosecutor General?s Office, RusAl would have been deprived of its 30% stake in the Mykolayiv Alumina Plant (MAP). The dispute between RusAl, which is the 100% owner of MAP, and the state, relates to the investment commitments RusAl assumed upon the plant?s privatization. Concorde Capital: The withdrawal of the law suit not only is a reassurance for MAP?s owners, but also a positive signal to investors. However, RusAl?s representatives admit there is a possibility the Prosecutor General?s Office will file a new suit against the company and they are holding negotiations with the Ukrainian government regarding the construction of the aluminum plant.
