Ex-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov
announced on Nov. 16 that he would create a political party based on his “Smart
People” interparty faction in the parliament. He told reporters on Nov. 16 that
there are enough political projects in Ukraine, but too few actual parties.
The move comes as the Rating sociological polling
company released its latest findings. Of those polled over Nov. 10-13, 7.9% of
those who already know for whom they would vote supported what was at the time
Razumkov’s inter-party group. Furthermore, 8.3% would vote for Razumkov himself
for president.
James Hydzik: The
continued support for Razumkov has been largely at the expense of the Servant
of the People’s (Zelensky’s party) support. With tension between Zelensky and
Ukraine’s political financiers rising, the alternative Razumkov presents for
the latter now looks like it could stand a chance of becoming viable over the
longer term.
