Yesterday, the National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) sold about 30 WiMAX licenses in the eight largest regions of Ukraine for USD 2.7 mln. The biggest buyers were Comstar-Ukraine (four licenses: Kyiv, Kyiv region, Odessa and Liviv), Ukrcom (Kyiv and Kyiv region) and Golden Telecom (Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions). Alexander Paraschiy: WiMAX is wireless broadband technology which will allow the licensees to provide a wider range of internet and data services. The internet and data market is limited in Ukraine, and therefore only licenses for the largest industrial regions draw interest from potential buyers.
