Russia’s Alfa Bank bidding for Ukrprombank?

Russia’s Alfa Bank has expressed an interest in Ukrprombank, Delo reported on Friday, citing sources in the National Bank of Ukraine. According to the article’s sources, Alfa was currently studying the financial and credit structure of the bank and holding talks with the NBU. Ukrprombank has been under the temporary administration of the NBU since Jan. 22, 2009, when the NBU also instituted a six-month moratorium on payments to the bank’s creditors. Ukrprombank is Ukraine’s #15 largest lender based on NBU statistics as of Oct. 1, 2008.
