Russia’s Angara Airlines orders ten An-148 planes

15 November 2011

Russia’s Angara Airlines signed an agreement with Ilyushin Finance to lease five An-148 aircraft, with an option for another five by 2014, the airline announced yesterday. The first three aircraft will be delivered to Angara in spring 2012, and the rest in 2013 and 2014. Roman Dmytrenko: This is the first deal from a regional Russian airline after Russia’s president ordered urgent action to modernize the nation’s regional aircraft earlier this month. The agreement increases the total An-148 order portfolio for Ilyushin Finance to 160 units. As An-148s are equipped with Motor Sich (MSICH UK) D-436-148 engines, the Angara deal could add an additional USD 44-46 mln to the engine producer’s revenues in 2011-2014.
