Shooting continues at Zolote, further delaying withdrawal plans

21 October 2019

Russian-backed forces shot at Ukrainian positions the
morning of Oct. 20 in the area of Zolote in the Luhansk region, where the next
withdrawal of forces is supposed to occur. The shooting by grenade launchers
undermined attempts at a seven-day ceasefire, which the Ukrainian side wants
before it can begin to withdraw forces. The prior day, Russian-backed forces
engage din 15 shootings, injuring one Ukrainian soldier, with the use of
mortars, grenade launcher, high-caliber machine guns and rifle fire. Among the
Oct. 19 shootings were in the area of Zolote.
