Small Increase in EU Finished Steel Export Quota For 2007

Ukrainian and EU trade negotiatiors agreed yesterday on a 2.5% increase in next year’s quota on exports to the EU of finished steel exports, from this year’s 1,004.5 ths mt. The sides also agreed that up to 10% of this year’s quota, if unused, could be transferred to next year. Ukraine produced 33.5 mln mt of finished steel in 2005. Concorde Capital: These quotas will be eliminated as soon as Ukraine joins the WTO, which could happen before 2007.
