The Kyiv-based airplane maker, Aviant, signed a contract with the Emergency Situations Ministry to provide four AH32P aerial fire-fighting airplanes in 2007. Inna Perepelytsya: It looks like the government is finally making strides to support the domestic aviation market. Earlier this month the government created the National Aviation Corporation comprised of 10 aviation companies which should help unify these companies and make them more competitive. Yesterday’s news marks the first time any Ukrainian airplane maker has received a domestic order in more than two years and bodes well for Motor Sich (MSICH: BUY), Ukraine’s monopoly jet engine maker. The state has also put aside money in the budget for the purchase of two AH-148 regional jets. This is a sign of good things on the horizon for MSICH as increasing domestic orders will mean the company is not as dependant on Russia for orders.
