Stirol (STIR: N/R) announced on Friday that on June 1 it finished preregistration under the REACH directive, which enables the company to export to EU countries until final registration. According to the EU’s REACH directive, adopted in 2007, all chemicals that are being manufactured, imported or used in the EU in bulk (over 1 mt) must be registered with the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) by the end of 2010. Products currently being supplied to EU countries must be preregistered by 2009. According to Stirol, it was the first nitrogen fertilizer producer in Europe and the CIS to preregister its products.
