Yesterday Interfax reported that Sumy Frunze (SMASH) put two new gas-compression stations into operation in Turkmenistan. The stations, which were built for state-owned Turkmengaz, have a capacity of 90 mln m3 of gas per day. According to the Turkmen state information agency, the project’s cost is about USD 180 mln. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov said that the stations were a symbol of Turkmen-Ukrainian collaboration and that his country was interested in long-term cooperation with Ukraine in the natural gas sector.Inna Perepelytsya: Sumy Frunze continues firming up its ties in Turkmenistan. The completion of this project comes after Sumy Frunze launched a successful turnkey project in Turkmenistan in February, a USD 120 mln large gas compressor station. In addition to orders from Turkmen companies, in the mid-term, Sumy Frunze could receive orders from Naftogaz of Ukraine, which is looking at prospective gas exploration projects in Turkmenistan.
