The U.S. Lifts Trade Sanctions Against Ukraine.

1 September 2008

The U.S. Lifts Trade Sanctions Against Ukraine. The United States has lifted trade sanctions imposed on Ukraine in 2002 for failing to protect intellectual property rights. An amendment to Ukrainian legislation, adopted at the end of the last parliamentary session, to facilitate the country?s entrance into the WTO prompted the U.S. to lift sanctions. Concorde Capital: The U.S. may have lifted sanctions to entice Ukraine?s lawmakers into passing more WTO laws during their fall session. In any case this move is good for the country as it opens up more markets for Ukrainian products.
