Trade Unions To Approve Tariffs?

Trade Unions To Approve Tariffs?

22 February 2008

The National Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) is going to prepare a law amendment according to which electricity and gas tariffs (defined by NREC) will not need to be approved by the Trade Union Federation. Concorde Capital: If amendment be approved, this will make the NERC less dependent in its pricing policy on politics and relations between the government and the Trade Union Federation. In addition, this move would set a precedent: the National Communications regulation Commission (NCRC) can also lobby against their dependence on trade union bureaucrats in tariff setting, which has made the NCRC unable to usher in flexible tariffs for Ukrtelecom (UTEL: Under Review).
