U.S. to hold congressional elections today

U.S. to hold congressional elections today

6 November 2018

The United States of America will hold congressional
elections today for the 100-member Senate, of which 35 seats will be contested,
and the 435-member House of Representatives, of which all seats for two-year
terms will be contested. The Republican Party currently holds 51 seats in the
U.S. Senate, compared to 47 seats for the Democrats and two independents. The
Republican Party currently holds 235 seats in the U.S. House, compared to 193
seats for the Democrats and seven vacancies.

Zenon Zawada: Regardless of the outcome of today’s U.S. elections, U.S. foreign
policy will remain firmly in Ukraine’s favor as both the Republican and
Democrat parties have policies strongly supporting Ukraine’s independence from
Russia. Both parties have also consistently voted in favor of sanctions against
Russia, as well as defense spending for Ukraine.
