Ukraine finishes spring sowing campaign with 7,549 ths ha sown

Ukraine almost completed its spring sowing campaign, the Agricultural Ministry said yesterday. Farmers sowed 7,549 ths ha of grain crops and leguminous plants, including 2,510 ths of corn and 3,721 ths of sunflower. Reported results are 2% ahead of 2008 plan. Anna Dudchenko: Two public Ukrainian agricultural companies have completed their sowing campaigns, generally meeting previously announced plans. MCB Agricole Holding’s (4GW1: N/R) harvested area comprised 61.0 ths ha (1.6% lower than planned); Landkom (LKI LN: N/R) 14 ths ha (+16.7%). Landwest (4K1A: N/R) has already sown ~42 ths ha of its planned 52.3 ths ha – the final results are expected on June 10 (for more details see our note of June 3).
