Ukraine fiscal service to cut tax inspections, employees

Ukraine fiscal service to cut tax inspections, employees

5 November 2015

State Fiscal Service Head Roman Nasirov announced on Nov. 4 his agency is reducing the types of tax inspections to 161 from 311. Meanwhile, a bill being reviewed in a parliamentary committee proposes cutting the number of bodies under the fiscal service to 25 from 370. Beginning Jan. 1, the Fiscal Service will reduce its number of workers by 30% to 41,000 from 58,000, Nasirov told the weekly Cabinet of Ministers meeting.

Zenon Zawada: Of all the set of reforms announced since the EuroMaidan, we would rank these proposals among the top five. These measures are an important step in the right direction. The follow up would have to consist of reducing corruption among those employees of the State Fiscal Service (which consists of the State Tax Inspection and State Customs Service) that remain.
