Ukraine’s nation-wide coronavirus status is
deteriorating, Chief Sanitary Officer Ihor Kuzin declared on Sept. 6. He stated
that the yellow stage, with the first set of restrictions affecting public
gatherings and gyms, will be introduced in the very near future, pravda.com.ua
reported. At the current pace, COVID rates could trigger a lockdown “no earlier
than November”, he stated in an interview on 1+1 television’s morning show.
Ukraine registered 2197 new cases of coronavirus on
Sept. 6, the Health Ministry reported. In Kyiv, new cases are outstripping
recoveries by a 2:1 margin, mayor Vitaliy Klitschko announced on Facebook.
James Hydzik: The
epidemiological situation is no surprise, and the national and local
governments are now well-practiced on the matter. At the beginning of the
school year, Kyiv school teachers warned parents that at least in some
districts, schools were preparing to switch to remote classes as soon as the
yellow status was declared, instead of waiting for the closures that higher
levels mandate.
The government has not made any statements about
changing the requirements for entering Ukraine from abroad.
