Ukraine imports 4.4 bcm of natural gas in September

Ukraine imports 4.4 bcm of natural gas in September

17 October 2013

The Ukrtransgaz state pipeline monopoly pumped for Ukraine 4.39 bcm of natural gas from abroad in September 2013, the company reported on October 16. This is 1.65x more than average for the previous eight months of the year. In 9M13, Ukraine imported 19.71 bcm of gas, according to Ukrtransgaz.

Alexander Paraschiy: The provided data is below our previous estimate of September gas imports (5.0 bcm). The total gas bill for September, based on the earlier announced import price of USD 407/tcm, was USD 1.79 bln. Recall, Ukraine planned to import 27.3 bcm of gas in 2013, while we expect it will have to import some more gas this year (about 28 bcm) to meet its end-year stockpile plan. This implies Ukraine will have to import about 2.8 bcm of gas for USD 1.1 bln in each of the three coming months.
