In early January, Ukraine launched a new commuter railway line in Kharkiv region. Now a rail bus will be used to service some of the city’s suburbs instead of a less cost-effective electric train. The government has plans to open one more rail bus line in Sumy region later this month. Ukrzaliznitsia (Ukraine?s main domestic railway operator) plans to buy an additional 10 buses in 2007, and increase their rail bus fleet to 100 buses by 2017. Overall, Ukraine will need 175 buses. Concorde Capital: The first buses will be delivered from Poland (PESA). However, Ukrzaliznitsia has made an agreement with the Krukovsky Carriage Plant to supply five buses by August 2006. Krukovsky’s buses are expected to be 30% cheaper.
