Ukraine Not To Buy Russian Gas In 2006.

10 January 2008

Ukraine will only buy Central Asian gas from RosUkrEnergo (RUE). RUE?s charge for its services will be the retention of 37.5% of gas it transports. Tariffs for the transportation of Central Asian gas through Russia will remain unchanged, at USD 1.09 per 1,000 cm per 100 km. The same terms Ukraine used for the purchase of Turkmen gas in 2005. Concorde Capital: This disclosure contradicts previous statements by Ukrainian officials which said Ukraine would buy 16.5 bcm of Russian natural gas. Lopushansky?s statement confirms our belief that the purchase of Turkmen gas this year, instead of expensive Russian gas, is the most feasible for Ukraine.
