Ukraine parliament agrees to EU requirement on revote

Ukraine parliament agrees to EU requirement on revote

31 May 2013

The parliamentary majority and the opposition reached an agreement on May 30 to hold a revote in five election districts for which results couldn’t be established in the 2012 parliamentary election. The elections will be scheduled for October 28, precisely a year after the elections were held. The parliament may vote to affirm the agreement in the first week of June.

Zenon Zawada: The revotes will satisfy a key prerequisite of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, which sends a positive signal to Brussels that the Ukrainian government is interested in signing it in November.
