Ukraine PM discusses Customs Union with Russia PM

28 December 2012

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told reporters on Dec. 27 that he discussed the Customs Union with Russian Federation Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev the prior day. Among the topics was access to the Customs Union market for Ukrainian pipe products. He said Medvedev supported the Ukrainian position but it needed to be discussed with Belarus and Kazakhstan, which Azarov said were Customs Union members with equal rights. The PM said he believes it’s possible to find a compromise in simultaneous cooperation with the Customs Union and the Free Trade Area of the European Union.
