Ukraine Temporarily Cancels Entry Visas For EU And Swiss Citizens

1 April 2008

President Yushchenko has issued a decree allowing EU and Swiss citizens to visit Ukraine without entry visas from May 1 to September 1 2005. The cancellation of visas is associated with the Eurovision-2005 international song competition to be held in May in Kiev. Concorde Capital: This is a smart move by Yushchenko, as Ukraine will be able to attract more European tourists and business travelers in the summer season. It would be even better if he were to abolish visas for Europeans altogether. Ukraine, in turn, has urged the EU to ease entry visa requirements for Ukrainian business people, journalists and students. The President?s next step may be to cancel visa requirements for American citizens during his upcoming visit to the United States.
