Ukraine winter crop harvest swells 13% yoy to 38 mmt

16 August 2019

Ukraine’s winter crop harvest swelled 12.6% yoy to
38.3 mmt as of Aug. 14, the Agrarian Ministry reported the same day. The total
wheat harvest (the key winter crop) rose 15.6% yoy to 28.1 mmt with an average
yield of 4.2 t/ha (10.0% higher yoy). Also, the rapeseed harvest surged 24.0%
yoy to 3.1 mmt with an average yield of 2.5 t/ha (a 5.7% decline yoy).

Andriy Perederey: The winter crop harvest improved yoy due to better weather conditions
in first half of the year. This result will have a positive effect on Ukraine’s
economic growth and trade balance in 4Q19 and 1Q20. But winter crops aren`t the
key indicator of what to expect this year as the main results of the Ukrainian
harvesting campaign depend on spring crops.
