Ukrainian banks' aggregate net assets 57.4% higher yoy in 2008

Ukrainian banks net assets, in aggregate, came UAH 971.8 bln (USD 126.2 bln), +57.4% yoy, in 2008, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. Banks’ loan portfolios came to UAH 805.8 bln (USD 104.6 bln); and equity as of January 1, 2009 was UAH 121.4 bln (USD 15.8 bln). As of January 1, the NBU said 184 banks were operating in Ukraine.
