Ukrsugar, the Ukrainian association of sugar producers, reported yesterday that as of October 27, domestic sugar production was 35% less than at this time last year, with 636.2 ths mt of sugar manufactured from beets. Ukrsugar associated the decline, in part, with a late start to the sugar refinining season this year. Olha Pankiv: We expect a 24% decline in overall sugar production in Ukraine this season to 1.6 ths mt. Out of traded sugar stocks, only Ukrros (UROS) announced expectations to produce 9-14% less sugar compared to last season (150-160 ths mt). Dakor (DAKOR) targets preserving production at last season’s level of 110 ths mt, while Astarta (AST PW) plans to increase sugar production by 29-42% to 200-220 ths mt.
