Ukrainian CPI Reaches 30.2% yoy, PPI 37.5% yoy

According to the State Statistics Committee, Ukraine’s April consumer inflation rate dropped to 3.1% mom, vs. 3.8% mom in March, but accelerated to an annual 30.2%, the fastest pace since January 1997. The CPI rate reached 13.1% YTD in 4M08, vs. 9.7% in 3M08. CPI rise in 4M08 was driven mainly by food (+20.4% YTD), while other products did not impact inflation growth substantially. Another news reported that producer price index surged 6.6% mom in April or 19.8% YTD.
