Ukrprombank has UAH 4.6 bln net loss in 1H09

28 July 2009

Ukrprombank posted a net loss of UAH 4.6 bln in 1H09, vs. net income of UAH 52.2 mln in 1H08, the bank said in a company filing yesterday. As of July 1, Ukrprombank said its assets equaled UAH 9.5 bln (down 40.8% yoy) and liabilities UAH 12.1 bln (down 13.7% yoy). Ukrprombank was placed under the temporary administration of the National Bank of Ukraine on January 21, 2009 for a year. It was Ukraine’s #18 largest bank by assets, based on NBU data as of April 1. Andrii Parkhomenko: Ukrprombank’s loss was the largest 1H09 loss posted by a Ukrainian bank, so far. The bank did not publish its complete P&L statement, however we suspect that the losses were due to writedowns of the bank’s assets.
