Ukrtelecom ups broadband customer base 33% in 1Q09

According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ukrtelecom’s (UTLM) number of DSL customers increased by 32.6% (or by 167 ths) in 1Q09 to 680 ths. Ukrtelecom’s share in Ukraine’s fixed broadband market increased to 40%, from 34% at end-2008. Alexander Paraschiy: Ukrtelecom’s plan to attract new 487 ths DSL customers in 2009 now looks more realistic: the company fulfilled its annual plan 34% already in the first quarter. We expect DSL to be the main driver for the company’s top and bottom line over 2009-2011.
