Ukrainian state-owned railway monopoly Ukrzaliznytsya said in a letter to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications that it must postpone implementation of its investment program. Inna Perepelytsya: Ukrzaliznytsya’s main cutbacks for 2008, according to the letter, are connected with railway line and train station construction. The letter also indicates that it would cut freight wagon purchases by 700 units, which will not materially affect the domestic railway market. Concerning passenger wagons, Ukrzaliznytsya said it would acquire only 170 vs. 200 previously. This figure is in line with our projections for the railway’s orders from Kryukiv Wagon (110 wagons).
