Ukrzaliznytsya to order Kryukiv dual voltage trains

Ukrzaliznytsya to order Kryukiv dual voltage trains

17 September 2012

Ukrzaliznytsya’s adopted budget for 2012 includes UAH 400 mln for the acquisition of two dual voltage trains from Kryukiv Wagon (KVBZ UK), the state railroad monopoly announced in a press release on Friday. The price of each train is set at USD 20.5 mln (net of VAT).

Roman Dmytrenko: Though it was earlier announced that Ukrzaliznytsya agreed to buy Kryukiv’s dual voltage train prototype (see our news on June 22), the prospect of further orders remained unclear. After the Ukrainian government agreed to subsidize the final stage of development of Kryukiv’s dual voltage train and Ukrzaliznytsya extended its order, the prospects for Ukrainian dual-voltage train looks fully in the hands of Kryukiv’s engineers. The company has to prove it can produce and deliver the second train on time.
