Verkhovna Rada appoints ministers, presidential liaison

Verkhovna Rada appoints ministers, presidential liaison

5 November 2021

The parliament appointed the full slate of ministers on
the agenda on Nov. 4. Along with Oleksiy Reznikov as Defense Minister, as previously reported, the VR
appointed Yulia Svyridenko as Economy Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk as
Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Minister, and Pavlo
Ryabikin as Strategic Industries Minister.

The legislature also appointed Vyacheslav Shtuchny as
Chief of Staff of the Verkhovna Rada.

James Hydzik: Shtuchny’s appointment signals that the parliament will remain under
observation by President Zelensky and his team. Shtuchny had been called “a
watcher” by ex-Speaker Dmytro Razumkov, zn.ua reported on Nov. 4. As for the
ministers, as they are already known within the presidential circles, their
independence is less likely to be an issue than their effectiveness.
