VS Energy to Start construction of Izmail Combined-Cycle Power Plant in June 2008

VS Energy International Ukraine plans to start construction of Izmail Combined-Cycle PowerPlant in June 2008, the company announced yesterday. The new plant’s electric capacity is expected to reach 260 MW (comparable by size to one power unit of thermal power plant), heat capacity to comprise 153.5 MW. VS Energy estimates cost of the project at USD 255 mln (or 980 USD/kW of installed electric capacity). Construction will take two years. In 2007 VS Energy International Ukraine announced about the plans to construct three combined-cycle powerplants in the cities of Odesa, Izmail and Sevastopol, and to spend about USD 800 mln on these projects.
